|Scope & Content||
Sale plan for "Canterbury College lands : first class agricultural farms for lease for 21 years from 1st May, 1912" being offered at auction by Guinness & Le Cren, Timaru, on 16 March 1912. Being reserves 676, 677 and 679 at Makikihi and Hook, plus reserve 699 and 700 near Barton.
The sheet offers two plans for the reserves on offer, plus a locality map and conditions of sale in the lower third. Each map shows parcel numbers, sixes, boundary lengths, adjacent roads and railroads, and current occupants (see people field).
The left plan shows the reserves straddling the railway line immediately north of the Makikihi river mouth and the reserves adjacent to the Hook River (also bounding on the railway line).
The second plan shows land near Barton, straddling Landsborough Road near the intersection with Barton Road. The road names given, Graham's and Coonoor, appear to have changed since the map was drawn - Graham's Road appears to now be Barton and Claremont Roads, while Coonoor Road appears to be Fairview Road.
Reserve plans scaled to 20 chains to an inch; locality plan to 8 miles an inch. Printed by Whitcombe & Tombs.
