A colour printed map, produced November, 1883, showing the suburb of Paignton in Timaru bordered by Wilson Street, Wai-iti Road, Preston Street, Oxford Street, and Regent Street.
Shows sections in red, green, yellow, and brown colour washes, with their numbers and area (measured in acres, roods, and perches). Five illustrations of local residences in the Paignton area are also given, including the residences of Mr F G Thomas, Mr T Langdon, Mr R Stansell, and G S Fraser. The whole is surrounded with a black ink decorative border.
Scale 1.5 chains to 1 inch with a bar scale showing chains and links.
Annotations included "R.H. Rhodes Esq.", in black ink, in the upper center below the map title, and "Jas Palliser", stamped in purple ink, in the upper center below the map title. "Thos. Roberts Licd. Surveyor, Timaru 11/83" also appears in lower right corner of map.
