Object Name Suit
Description Hand woven young woman's two piece blue wool suit handcrafted by Doris O'Brien.

Fabric: Blue wool handspun, hand dyed and hand woven.

Top: Front: Slightly scooped neckline bound in blue satin. Bust darts. 17cm down from the shoulder the weaving has a silver thread woven through in the weft. The top finishes about waist level with a deep 15cm fringe.

Back: V neck line and centre back opening bound with satin and laced with satin home made ribbon. Back finishes with fringe as front.

Sleeves: Short set in sleeves bound at the bottom with satin.

Lining: Top (not sleeves) lined with navy bri-nylon fabric edged with narrow navy nylon lace.

Skirt: Front: Mini skirt bound with satin at the waist. A dart either side from the waist. A pocket featuring the silver thread weft is stitched at an angle right hand side. Pocket has small fringe around sides and bottom and across the pocket 3 cm from top.

Back: Centre back seam with invisible zip. Waist bound with satin.

Lining: Skirt is lined with navy bri nylon. Hem edged with narrow navy lace.

Construction: Hand spun, hand dyed, hand woven wool. Seams machine overlocked.

Blue nylon tights - worn with blue suit.
