Object Name Bottle, Drink
Description Front side of tall amber glass bottle for beer. Sloping shoulders leading to tapered opening at top. Oval label coloured black and pale red. Outer ring on label reads "Brewed in New Zealand by New Zealand Breweries Ltd McGavin Branch"

Centre of label bisected by the word "McGavins". Top half has black lettering "Pale Ale" and a registered trademark of two hands holding a chain, one link apart. Bottom half has the words "Bottled in New Zealand by J. L. Baxter Bank Timaru Free House. Bottom of bottle has NZ embossed in large capital letters.

Reverse side has oval embossed 'stamp' with capital letters reading: Old bank House Timaru . around the top. A 6-sided hexagon enclosing a cockerel with the word registered and trademark written vertically on left and right side of this crest.

The following words occupy the lower half of oval stamp; J L Baxter Owner of this famous model Free House The Old Bank Timaru NZ . Along the bottom rim of bottle reads: This bottle is the property of J L Baxter Timaru the largest distributor in Canterbery (with an E)
