Country Women's Institute banner for Washdyke, South Canterbury.
Royal blue cotton fabric background with red satin ribbon across top and down both sides and a deep red satin fringe along the curved bottom. Embroidered in the middle in red satin cotton are the words: "Washdyke CWI". Above the words is an oval woven logo with the words "For home and country CWI" and a red flower and leaf and a green fern.
Below the central words is a shield shaped logo featuring three black sailing ships on white ground, four red stars of the Southern Cross on white, a golden sheaf of wheat on red, a golden sheep on red and golden hammers on grey.
The banner has a casing at the top through which is threaded a wooden rod with knob and finial at the end. A red cord is attached for hanging.
A badge is pinned on the banner. It has the oval logo of the club as depicted on the banner and a bar at the top with the words "Long Service" in gold on red background. On the back are engraved words" Mrs E J James Foundation Member"
