Hand woven purple woman's coat by Doris O'Brien which is short at the front and long at the back and called "Phantom of the Opera".
Fabric: Handwoven wool fabric with purple weft (horizontal) threads and mainly purple warp (longitudinal) threads with some red and cream.
Front: Neckline has shawl collar backed with red taffeta. Double breasted with two sets of red buttons. Bust darts and side panel each side. Skirt of coat extends a short way forward from side seams.
Back: Centre back seam and side panels in top. Below waist the skirt falls in four panels to the floor.
Sleeves: Long tapered set in sleeves with upper and lower arm pieces.
Lining: Fully lined with red taffeta.
Construction: Hand spun and hand woven.
