Lapel pin of the First New Zealand Mounted Rifles [Veterans] Association, owned by Daniel Fraser. Pin has circle with "1st Contingent New Zealand" surmounted the Imperial /Tudor crown and two fern fronds. Across the bottom in scroll is "1899-1901". in the centre is a sheild with a rampant lion and the words "South Africa".
The First New Zealand Mounted Rifles Association formed in 1901 while en-route home from South Africa. The association met annually until 1956 and released its final newsletter the following year.
