Object Name Beret
Description Small black wool beret shaped hat has badges etc belonging to Italian fascists collected by Albert Allport while in Rome during the Second World war. Most of the badges although made from different metals and are different colours and sizes feature a shield and a sword. Another one is the side profile of a man wearing a helmet and sometimes with the words "Credere Obbedire Combattere G I L ". One large one is half red and half yellow shield shape with "Giovanni Fascisti G I L Roma" on it. Another common badge shape is based on the letter "M" sometimes with G I L as well. at the front is a small badge with two men profiled, a swastika, and the words "Roma Berlino". Across the top edge are what appears to be buttons from the soliders uniforms and around the base various ribbons that would go with medals.
