1883 - The company formed and purchased 61 acres at the northern boundary of Timaru (Smithfield) 1885 - Factory build complete & killing begins. 1894 - Taken over by Christchurch Meat Company 1916 - Became New Zealand Refrigerating Company Ltd 1975 - Merged with Waitaki (with planbts at Pukeuri , Nelson, and Finegand)to become Waitaki New Zealand Refrigerating Compnay Ltd 1988 - Waitaki NZ Refrigerating merged with Challange Meats & Dunedin Master Butchers Association. 1990 - Balance of Waitaki plants sold to Alliance. 2024 - Closed. |
