Collected by Richard Henshaw who, as a 12 year old, was given a Box Brownie camera by his uncle Dick Davidson (who worked at DC Turnbull's), and began photographing shipping at Timaru. In 1948 he began advertising to swap similar photographs with others, some of which along with Henshaw became founding members of the NZ Ship & Maritime Society.
