A collection of 137 prints, previously removed from an album, that were taken or collected by Aoraki Mount Cook Hermitage guide Mick Bowie (1901-1982), dating from circa 1930 to 1931. The prints appear to be images taken during some of Bowie's early years of guiding and climbing around Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (and Westland Tai Poutini National Park). They feature many landscape images, often with climbers pictured in part of the image....

A "Real Photo Post Card" by Franck Duncan & Co, featuring the Sefton bivy, circa 1930s. Bears the title along the lower edge of the print. Has a standard divided postcard verso, unused apart from a pencil identification. From a collection of loose prints belonging to, or taken by, Mick Bowie - probably during his earlier years of guiding and climbing around Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (and Westland Tai Poutini National Park).

The Tewaewae Glacier (previously known as the Stocking Glacier), as viewed from Sefton Bivouac, circa 1930s? Identified by a pen note on the verso reading: "Stocking from Sefton Bivi". From a collection of loose prints belonging to, or taken by, Mick Bowie - probably during his earlier years of guiding and climbing around Aoraki Mount Cook National Park (and Westland Tai Poutini National Park).

The Mueller Glacier from the Sefton bivouac - Ashurst/Langton Collection
An undated view looking up the Mueller Glacier from the Sefton bivouac (or bivi), probably taken in the 1930s or 1940s. Identified by a pencil note on the verso as "Mueller Gl - from Stocking bivi". Further identified (and corrected?) by the donor, a recognised authority of New Zealand Alpine history, as being taken from the Sefton Bivouac.
