'Anglo Canadian' |
Description |
The 'Anglo Canadian' of Nitrate Producers at Timaru, circa 1948 to 1956. In the foreground is the fishing boat "Agnes" (TU89). Collected by Richard Henshaw who, as a 12 year old, was given a Box Brownie camera by his uncle Dick Davidson (who worked at DC Turnbull's), and began photographing shipping at Timaru. In 1948 he began advertising to swap similar photographs with others, some of which along with Henshaw became founding members of the NZ Ship & Maritime Society. Henshaw went to the UK in 1950, joined the merchant navy, and his collection dates from about 1948 to 1956. |
