[Cars parked on Caroline Bay] |
Description |
Cars parked on Caroline Bay at Carnival time, in the late 1930s or early 1940s. Taken from the Benvenue Cliffs looking southward. The crowds attracted to Caroline Bay for the carnival brought with them a need for carparking. As a result cars were often parked on the grass at the edge of the beach between the sand and the tennis courts and around the children's playground, visible on the sand. Handwritten on reverse in pencil "Caroline Bay c1930s". There is also a stamp which reads "Bill Clark 33 Papanui Rd Christchurch 1". |
