A pictorial postcard featuring a view from the Bay Hill down toward the Bay Pavilion on Caroline Bay, Timaru, circa 1915. The image shows the Caretaker's cottage in the lower left, the pavilion in the centre, and the Benvenue Cliffs and Dashing Rocks in the background. The very edge of the Bay Tearooms appears in the lower right corner. The card bears a printed title on the lower edge of the face, plus a standard divided verso that also features the series title. Postally unmarked. This postcard is one of a small collection from "Henry" to "Mary". The image is annotated with numbers 1 to 6, relating to a handwritten message written on the verso that reads: "1 is Bay Pavilion[.] 2 Abbatoirs[.] 3 Dashing Rocks. 4 Maori Reserve (where I hold Scout parade. 5 is caretakers residence[.] 6 is corner of Tea Rooms" Signed: "[H]enry XXXXX" |
